Mectrol's new extra wide
belt allows timing belts to be used in a whole new world of
applications Allows use of a synchronous belt in
applications up to 18 inches wide. This allows replacement of
typical flat belt where synchronization is desireable.
Polyurethane body is ideal for timing belts being used
as conveying belts Polyurethane offers extremely good
abrasion resistance, much better than traditional neoprene timing
belts. Urethane also is resistant to most chemicals, water and oil
making it well suited for tough industrial applications. Urethane
is also an ideal material to work with for custom fabrication.
Surfaces can be ground to tight tolerances, profiles can easily be
thermally bonded, backings can be added and holes can be punched.

FDA / USDA Approved
Materials This extra wide belt is available in
compounds that are FDA/USDA approved. In addition, these belts
have a sealed edge with no exposed cord where bacteria can grow.
KEVLAR
Reinforcement DuPonts KEVLAR is an ideal cord for many
conveying applications. KEVLAR offers very low stretch which
means that re-tensioning and other maintenance is not required.
KEVLAR is
also dimensionally very stable under a wide variety of
environmental conditions.
Linear Placement of
Cords All cords in Mectrol's linear belt are located in the
belt parallel to the belt edges and exactly perpendicular to the
belt teeth. As opposed to belts that are produced with a helically
wound cord, these linear belts will exert little or no side force
making them much easier to track. There are no exposed cords at
the edge of the belt which can fray and contaminate product.
Low Backlash Proper selection of belt and
pulleys can result in low or zero backlash in the belt and pulley
system.
Other Advantages Positive
Synchronization No re-tensioning required High operating
speeds No lubrication required High accuracy in molded
dimensions
