Mectrol Belts with Backings

Features and Benefits:

Coefficient of Friction
Backings are added to either increase or decrease the coefficient of friction. A low coefficient of friction may be required in an accumulation application where a high coefficient of friction would be necessary to convey on an incline.

Compressibility
Foam or other low durometer materials can be used where a product must be pinched between belts.

Shock absorption
Various backings can be used to absorb and dissipate energy from a falling object thus reducing the chance of damaging a delicate or expensive product.

Electrostatic discharge
It is sometimes necessary to utilize an antistatic belt in applications where static build up on a belt may damage the product being conveyed (such as circuit boards), create a safety hazard (such as conveying explosives) or effect the aesthetics of a product (such as powder or dirt buildup). Mectrol has semi-conductive coatings which can be applied to a belt to discharge static. The coating used has a surface resistivity of less than 105 ohms/square.

Release properties
Low surface energy backings such as silicone can be used to reduce build up of adhesives on belting used in tape or adhesive dispensing machinery.
